I’ve never seen this drink before so while shopping for wine in Langkawi, Malaysia I thought I’d pick up a little bottle and give it a try.
Interesting smell, a bit like Saki but maybe that is my preconceived smell. On the palate it is smooth and fruity, with the sweetness of the Royal Honey leading the way. Then a tartness in the finish. A pleasant drink and one to enjoy in cooler weather, when the sun goes down.
Umeshu is a Japanese liqueur made from steeping ume fruits.
